Guy will be finishing his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley in August 2012. His research focuses on information theory and wireless communication, bioinformatics, and the mathematics of large complex networks such as social networks.

Guy is passionate about the outdoors and is drawn to adventure. His current focus is on multi-pitch traditional climbs and single-push alpine objectives. Ice climbing, sport climbing, and bouldering play an integral part in his all-around climbing development. Besides climbing, Guy has been an avid mountain biker for over 14 years, racing in the highest collegiate category. Mountain biking gives him with an incredible way to develop fitness for alpine climbing while also providing ample opportunities for adventure on multi-day self-supported endurance outings.

Guy’s short-term goals target alpine climbing. In 2012 he will be spending time in the mega-classic destinations Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Red Rocks, Moab and Indian Creek, and the Eastern Sierra. Also, he will be participating in endurance-oriented mountain bike races, culminating in Marathon Nationals in September.
