Born from the stone of truth, Brice Winkler does not take “No” for an answer. When critics said that he could not get two U.C. Berkeley degrees in 4 and ½ years, Brice got it done. When he crashed his bike and tore off all of the skin on the left hand side of his body at the San Francisco Triathlon at Treasure Island, Brice got up, won the race, and earned his elite professional triathlete license. He got it done. “No”, “Maybe”, and “Perhaps”, don’t really exist in his vocabulary. Ben Franklin eloquently stated: “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings, and Brice wholeheartedly believes that if he puts in intelligent, consistent, and honest effort day in and day out (swimming, biking, and running of course), good news and accolades will come. It is not the man standing on the side of the road questioning whether or not your bike is “aero” enough who matters, it is you and you alone who makes all the difference.
